PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect a book not stored in a prescribed storage shelf in no contact by comparing the shelf number of a shelf discrimination label with the shelf number of a book discrimination label by the comparative means of a scanner, and displaying the content on a display means when the both are not coincident at the result of the comparison.;SOLUTION: A shelf discrimination label 3 having a shelf number inherent to a storage shelf 2 is mounted on the storage shelf 2 for storing a book 1, and a book discrimination label 4 having the shelf number of the storage shelf 2 to store the book 1 is mounted on the book 1. This device is provided with a scanner 5 for reading the shelf number possessed by the shelf discrimination label 3 and the shelf number possessed by the book discrimination label 4 in no contact by performing an electromagnetic communication between the shelf discrimination label 3 and the book discrimination label 4. In the scanner 5, the shelf number read from each discrimination label 3, 4 is compared with a preliminarily stored shelf number, and when the both are not coincident with the result of the comparison, the content is displayed on a display means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
