The invention relates to a prestressed joint beam, which is intended for use together with finished plates 10 or joint boards in order to achieve a joint construction. The joint beam comprises a sectional part 13, a precasting 14 and, within the precasting 14, prestressing and reinforcing steel bars 15, 16. The joint beam is arranged to support with edge projections 11 the said finished plates 10 or joint boards prior to concreting 12. Arranged inside the joint beam are prefabricated prestressing and reinforcing steel bars 15, 16, which are coupled to the sectional part 13 with transverse stud bolts 17 and the said precasting 14.
