The invention relates to electrolytic conversion of at least one furanederivative (A) in an electrolytic circuit, comprising steps (i) and (ii): (i)electrolytic oxidation of furane or a substituted furane or a mixture of twoor more of said furanes to obtain (a) at least one furane derivative (B)exhibiting a C-C double bond in a heterocyclic five-membered ring and (b)hydrogen, (ii) hydrogenation of said C-C double bond using hydrogen obtainedfrom step (i) in a parallel process occurring at said cathode or external-source hydrogen added to said electrolytic circuit or electrocatalytichydrogenation. The invention is characterized in that said method is performedin an electrolysis cell which has at least one hydrogenation catalyst.
