A process for the preparation of a lead glass imitation on insulating glass panes

A method of producing coloured glazes, especially for an imitation leaded glass appearance on insulating glass panes, involves (a) applying an aqueous paste of a pulverulent glass-forming material, which either has an intrinsic solidification colour or contains a pigment incorporated by dissolution or fine dispersion in the melt, to a thickness corresponding to a dried thickness of 0.3-0.8 (preferably 0.5-0.6) mm; (b) drying in air at 16-480 deg C; and (c) firing at 500-1000 (preferably 600-700) deg C. Also claimed are coloured glazes, especially for an imitation leaded glass appearance on insulating glass panes, made by the above method.
