To convert a pair of crutches into a tripod, the crutches (1) are locked together at the grips (3). The leg of one crutch is divided, to give a section (6) which can swing out to form a third leg in the structure. The grips (3) are locked together by a pin in one grip which fits into an opening at the other grip.
