New eicosa-, tricosa- or pentacosa- to heptacosa-peptides, useful e.g. for stimulating hematopoietic stem cell proliferation after chemotherapy or radiotherapy or as antiinflammatory agents

Eicosapeptides (II), tricosapeptides (III) and pentacosa- to heptacosa-peptides (IV) are new. Peptides of formulae X1-X2-Ser-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9-X10-X11-X12-X13-X14-X15-X16-X17-X18-Ser-X20 (II), X1-X2-Ser-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9-X10-X11-X12-X13-X14-X15-X16-X17-X18-Ser-X2 0-Glu-Leu-Arg (III) and X1-X2-Ser-X4-X5-X6-X7-X8-X9-X10-X11-X12-X13-X14-X15-X16-X17-X18-Ser-X2 0-Glu-Leu-Arg-X24-Y25 (IV) (where the peptide segment from X4 to X15 forms a stable alpha -helix) and their acid addition salts are new. X1 = Pro, Gly or Ala; X2, X5, X7 - X10, X12-X20, X24 = aminoacids other than Cys; X4 = Pro, Gly, Thr, Ala, Ile or Leu; X6 = Ala, Val, Gln, Leu, Ile or Thr; Y25 = Pro, Pro-X26 or Pro-X26-Tyr, and X26 = aminoacid other than Cys. Independent claims are included for the following: (i) DNA fragments encoding (II)-(IV); and (ii) monoclonal antibodies directed against (II)-(IV).
