Three-dimensional texture mapping apparatus and a three-dimensional image generation apparatus using the same

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain image generation processing by a small polygon by artificially distorting and solidifying a texture to be mapped while matching with fine bumps in the polygon. ;SOLUTION: A three-dimensional(3D) image generation part 1 generates 3D picture data by executing geometric transformation or projection transformation based on picture data and adding texture data from a texture memory 3 to a polygon. The picture data are written in a frame memory 2 as pixel data for a frame picture. A solid value generation circuit 5 computes a solid value for turning the texture to an uneven state from coordinate data applied from the 3D image generating part 1, bump data stored in the memory 3 and a parameter stored in a register 4. A solidifying circuit 6 solidifies the data stored in the frame memory 2 and displays the solid picture on a display device 7.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
