The reciprocating piston engine with three cylinder banks in W-configuration has a crank throw constructed in such a way that a connecting rod pair of two cylinder banks of the first cylinder group acts upon a first common journal (46), and a corresponding connecting rod of the third cylinder bank of the first cylinder group acts upon a second separate journal (48) which with regard to the first journal is offset by 360 degrees opposite the crankshaft rotation direction.
