The design cover for components in an engine compartment comprises a combination of a stiff backing layer and a foam layer to absorb sound waves. The backing layer (2) is positioned on the component side and has holes (5) or openings, while the foam layer (3) is installed on the side facing away from the respective components and on this side is provided with a thin design layer (4). The backing layer is in hood-form and thereby conforming to the topography of the components.
