The bumper beam (3) which is mounted in the front of the vehicle extends along the driving line (L). It comprises a zone of least resistance (Z) for, in the event of collision, increasing its height in a programmed way. This zone allows an upper (12S) and lower (12I) region of the beam to be separated from each other. The upper and lower regions belong to a front input wall (6) in contact with an obstacle. An Independent claim is included for an automobile front unit.
