PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently analyze an MBT of causative agent of a sunlight odor of even a lower range than a functional threshold concentration by expelling a trace volatile component contained in a beer from the beer by blowing inert gas into the beer, and detecting it by a mass analyzer. SOLUTION: In the method, 100 to 500 ml of a specimen (beer) and an internal standard substance are filled into a flask 2, and the flask 2 is immersed in a bath 1. A liquid (normally water) is filled into the bath 1, and adjusted to -5 to 10 deg.C. A temperature of the beer in the flask 2 is controlled to its temperature. An inert gas such as, for example, a nitrogen gas is blown from a line 3 into the flask 2, and an MBT and a 1-hexanethiol or the like in the beer is purged. A flow rate of the gas for purging is normally set to 50 to 200 ml/min or preferably 100 to 180 ml/min. A component containing the purged MBT is passed through a condenser, captured by a capturing tube 5 in which a collector fills an upper portion of an apparatus, and detected by a mass analyzer.
