PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the retrieval of substitutes of parts forming a product. SOLUTION: This part selection support system comprises a product configuration database 101 for storing the configurations of products, a part database 102 for storing the part names and attributes of parts, a part classification database 103 for storing the classification of the parts, a product configuration screen preparation means 104 reading out the product configuration data from the database 101 and preparing and displaying display data having the list of the parts forming the products indicated by an input device 106 and switching instructions to the part classification display screen with the parts, a part classification screen preparing means 107 for displaying the classification of the parts in a tree shape to display the list of the parts classified into the same group, and a product configuration reverse tree display screen preparing means 108 for retrieving the parts of an upper hierarchy to which the instructed parts belong and indicating a reverse tree configuration up to the highest products.
