PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a person by an impulse response obtained by conduction of an output pulse through biological tissue. PSOLUTION: A pulse generating part 11 generates a pulse, and a speaker 13 applies the pulse amplified by an amplifier 12 to a user's finger or the like in contact with the speaker 13 and a microphone 14. The pulse is transmitted to the microphone 14 with a damping characteristic varying, for example, with a transmission distance depending on the length and thickness of the finger and with features of biological tissue such as a flesh thickness and a bone density. A data synthesis processing part 16 synthesizes the pulse generated by the pulse generating part 11 and an impulse received by the microphone 14 and amplified by an amplifier 15. A template recording part 18 records a template forming a criterion of authentication processing, along with a user ID and the like. A comparative determination processing part 20 refers to the template recording part 18 to determine whether the impulse response input from a memory 17 coincides with any of such templates for registered users or not.
