Ignition burner has air feed (14), gas feed (16) and current feed, with mixing chamber (18) providing air/gas mixture ignited via ignition element, e.g. spark plug, for providing flame output. Air feed is coupled to intermediate space between outer mantle (10) and inner mantle (12), with gas feed coupled to interior of inner mantle, communicating via openings (13) with mixing chamber provided in intermediate space. An ignition electrode (22) extends through the inner mantle and faces an earth electrode (24) at the flame output end (30) of the outer mantle.
