The air bag device has a gas bag (5) with an outlet aperture which releases a certain amount of gas when a human body comes against it to adapt it to the shape of this body. It also has at least one outlet aperture (15) only opening (automatically) if the bag has to adapt to shape of a small, e.g. child's, body.
