The method involves inhibiting all persons on board including the pilots from influencing the further course of the flight by gassing and flying the aircraft automatically to the nearest airport within the safety system and landing it there. Other means such as sound or electro-stimulation can be used to inhibit any possibility of influence by those on board. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement that ensures that the immobilization of the occupants only takes place after the emergency take-over by the autopilot.
