The system has a CPU calculation monitoring unit with a anomaly deciding unit (5a) to decide whether a result of a basic control calculating unit is normal or anomalous in a light of a torque sensor output. Another deciding unit (5b) decides whether a result of a modified control quantity-calculating unit is normal or anomalous in light of the steering conditions. A motor is deactivated if the anomalies are detected.
