PURPOSE: To reduce the size of an image read/scan mechanism in order to obtain a compact electronic color still video camera which contains an electronic development type recording medium. CONSTITUTION: An optical subject image is formed on a color filter 71 through a 1st optical system 12 and then formed on an electronic development type recording medium 30 through a 2nd optical system 43. Thus a developed record image is obtained, and the medium 30 is scanned by a light source 42 for reading the record image. This optical scanning information is turned into the pixel signals by an image sensor 44. The light source 42 and the sensor 44 are placed opposite to the system 43, and the light emitting surface and the light receiving surface are set in the same direction. Then the luminous flux that is emitted by the light source 42 and transmitted through the developed record image is formed into an image on the light receiving surface of the sensor 44 through the system 43.
