PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a performance teaching apparatus which can teach the posture of hands in performance operations.;SOLUTION: Judgement data HD for judging the posture of model hands in performance operations of a piece of music are provided corresponding to performance data PD of the performance of the piece of music which is taught. A lateral visual field image is obtained by laterally picking up the image of a trainee's hand in the performance operations with a lateral image pickup unit 4. The image of trainee's hands is extracted from the lateral visual field image and it is judged whether the extracted hand image agrees with the posture of hands prescribed by the judgement data HD, and judgement result is reported to the trainee.
