PURPOSE: An organic field effect transistor and a method for assembling the transistor are provided. The transistor rapidly detects various kinds of biological species simultaneously with a small amount of a sample, and has smaller size. CONSTITUTION: The organic field effect transistor(100) for detecting a biological target molecule comprises a transistor channel(110) which has a semi-conductive film(115) containing an organic molecule(120) and a probe molecule(125) bound to the outer surface of the semi-conductive film(115), wherein the inner part of the film(115) substantially has no probe molecule(125); the organic molecule(120) has a conjugated bond; the semi-conductive film(115) contains a monolayer of the organic molecule(120), and one end of the organic molecule(120) is bound to a gate dielectric positioned below the semi-conductive film(115); and the transistor channel(110) is an active channel, and the probe molecule(125) is capable of binding to the target molecule and is chemically bonded to the outer surface of the film(115). The method for assembling the organic field effect transistor comprises the steps of: forming a semi-conductive film containing an organic molecule between source and drain; and binding a probe molecule to the outer surface of the semi-conductive film of which inner part substantially has no probe molecule.
