Defense-related stellacyanin gene isolated from Capsicum annuum L. cv. Hanbyul and the use of the pepper stellacyanin gene for the detection of plant resistance reactions
PURPOSE: Provided are a defense-related stellacyanin gene isolated from Capsicum annuum L. cv. Hanbyul and the use of the pepper stellacyanin gene for the detection of plant resistance reactions. CONSTITUTION: The defense-related stellacyanin gene isolated from Capsicum annuum L. cv. Hanbyul has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. A protein expressed by the defense-related stellacyanin gene has the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2. A recombinant vector pCASLP 1 is prepared by inserting the defense-related stellacyanin gene into pBluescript SK(-). A transformant Escherichia coli CASLP1(KFCC-11275) is prepared by transforming E. coli with the recombinant vector pCASLP 1. The method for detection of plant resistance reactions comprises the steps of: isolating RNA from pepper plant injected with plant pathogenic bacteria or treated with foreign stresses or non-biological chemicals; subjecting the isolated RNA to electrophoresis; transferring the developed gel to a membrane; labeling the membrane with 32P; and reacting the 32P labeled membrane with the stellacyanin gene probe.
