The method has the actual particle size distribution per unit of time of a tobacco particle stream (V) passing a measuring point determined for comparison with a required size distribution, with continuous adjustment of the winnowing extraction dependent on the result of the comparison. An Independent claim for a device for adjustment of the winnowing extraction during cigarette manufacturing is also included.
