摘要

Up to the present time, microbiological experiments have been conducted using assessment techniques which require long time periods for completion. The present program was carried out to demonstrate a new instrumental method which allows near-real-time readout of microorganisms concentrations and sizes, permitting effective replacement of the classical methods used to date. This instrumental method shows promise as a tool for discrimination between various particle shapes in the one to 100 micron particle size range. Preliminary experiments demonstrating the possibility of particle shape discrimination are described. (Author)
