The cutting roller has a cylindrical roller body provided with a drive (3,4) at either end, attached to the mining device via carriers (5,6), the mantle surface (2) of the roller body having a number of mini-disc cutters (7,8,9) fitted to counter-rotating transport screws (10,11,12,13) extending from opposite sides of the roller and its centre, to provide symmetrical roller halves. The virtual cutting roller surface defined by the mini-disc cutters tapers inwards towards each end, the mini-disc cutters at the truncated conical ends facing inwards.
