PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a lead storage battery in use, and to improve electrochemical characteristics of the lead storage battery for regenerating the used lead storage battery to reuse. PSOLUTION: In the method for prolonging the life of or the method for regenerating the lead storage battery, after removing an insulating film generated in an electrode of the lead storage battery to activate the lead storage battery for prolongation of life and reuse by adding a reaction accelerator in the lead storage battery cell and charging, a large current is applied for heating and boiling the electrode surface to remove an insulating material adhering to the surface.
