Disclosed is a method for improving or prolonging the service life of a lead-acid storage battery or battery pack. The method comprises carrying out polarity reversal on positive and negative poles of a lead-acid storage battery or battery pack, and a charging or charging and discharging operation thereafter, the total cumulative number of times that the operation proceeds or is carried out being greater than or equal to 1.
