METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING ANIMAL MODEL SUFFERING FROM LEFT VENTRICULAR DIASTOLIC DISORDER FOR EXAMINING HEART FAILURE AND METHOD OF EXAMINING REMEDY FOR HEART FAILURE CAUSED BY LEFT VENTRICULAR DIASTOLIC FAILURE WITH THE USE OF THE ANIMAL MODEL

It is intended to provide an animal model which enables the examination of thedrug effect of a drug on left ventricular diastolic dysfunction such as heartfailure caused by left ventricular diastolic failure. A method of constructingan animal model suffering from left ventricular diastolic disorder forexamining a remedy for heart failure characterized by comprising injecting anaqueous calcium chloride solution into the vein of a small animal forlaboratory use under anesthesia, and, while continuously injecting the aqueouscalcium chloride solution into the vein, injecting an aqueous norepinephrinesolution into the vein so as to elevate the left ventricular end-diastolicpressure of the animal~s heart to a level higher than the normal leftventricular end-diastolic pressure; and a method of examining a remedy forheart failure caused by left ventricular diastolic failure by using an animalmodel suffering from left ventricular diastolic disorder for examining aremedy for heart failure characterized by comprising injecting an aqueousnorepinephrine solution into the vein of an animal model for examining aremedy for heart failure which is constructed by the above method, measuringthe left ventricular end-diastolic pressure, and comparing the leftventricular end-diastolic pressure thus measured with the normal leftventricular end-diastolic pressure before the injection of the aqueousnorepinephrine solution.
