Disclosed herein are a method for removing residual agricultural chemicals in root vegetables and a novel functional food product prepared by using the method. The method comprising the steps of selecting and washing root vegetables, such as ginseng, garlic, balloon flower and wild lanceolate root, sterilizing the washed root vegetables, inoculating germs of a mushroom selected from Phellinus linteneus, Inonotus obliquus, Agaricus blazei, Ganoderma lucidum, antrodia camphorata and Sparassis crispa onto the sterilized root vegetables, and cultivating the inoculated root vegetables. According to the method, agricultural chemicals remaining on the root vegetables can be decomposed, and at the same time, the functionality of the root vegetables and the mushroom can be improved through the interaction between ingredients of the root vegetables and the mushroom germs.
