ANTIBACTERIAL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING PUNICA GRANATUM L. EXTRACT

A method for preparing an extract of Punica granatum L. and an antibacterial composition comprising the same extract are provided, which Punica granatum L.extract has improved antibacterial activity to enhance skin troubles, protect the skin and prevent and treat acne. The method for preparing the extract of Punica granatum L. comprises the steps of: extracting dried Punica granatum L. with polar solvent including ethanol or acetone at room temperature for 10 to 14 days or at 50 to 60 deg. C for 1 to 5 hours, and filtering the extract of Punica granatum L. and concentrating the filtered extract of Punica granatum L. under reduced pressure. The antibacterial composition comprises 0.01 to 5 wt.% of the Punica granatum L. extract, wherein the composition further comprises aqueous components, powder components, oil, surfactant, hydrant, thickening agent, preservative, antioxidant, perfume and pigment.
