The method is for movement analysis of the jaw, i.e. the temporomandibular joint, whereby a measurement device is used to determine the 3D position of the lower jaw relative to the upper jaw. According to the method reference positions are defined as the left and right condyles of the joint and the position of pain sensitivity is defined relative to these points. A coordinate system is defined for the upper jaw in conjunction with the movement paths of the condyles. An independent claim is made for a device for movement analysis of the jaw, i.e. the temporomandibular joint.
