PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a food material treatable in a large amount with an easy apparatus in a short time, maintaining the active ingredients of seaweed and reducing treatment cost, to provide a method for producing the food material, and to provide a food obtained by using the food material.;SOLUTION: This food material having sea trumpet or the like as the raw material is obtained by making solution obtained by adding edible vinegar to water so as to bring concentration to 0.2%-3%, and heating raw sea trumpet or sea trumpet reconstituted in water corresponding to 20%-60% of the weight of the solution, in the solution for a prescribed time. As a result of this, astringent taste, bitterness, harsh taste, lye and smell caused by tannin contained in sea trumpet, a polyphenol compound such as catechins, and iodine are reduced or removed.
