PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform data communication between an IC chip having a plurality of memory areas and a reader/writer.;SOLUTION: In this communication system for performing data communication non-contactly between the IC chip belonging to a portable information terminal 20 and the reader/writer, the IC chip has a plurality of data storing parts for storing transmission data or reception data and a terminal side communicating part for performing data communication with the reader/writer, the portable information terminal further has a terminal side data processing part for generating transmission data or processing reception data, the reader/writer has a selecting part for selecting any of the plurality of data storing parts, a device side communicating part for using the selected data storing part to perform data communication and a storing part identification information holding part for holding information for identifying a data storing part that is just previously used, and the selecting part selects a data storing part to be identified by the held information as the next data storing part to be used.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
