PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the read/write of digital data on plural non-contact cards and to easily read/write a lot of digital data.;SOLUTION: In addition to the transmission of digital data through electromagnetic coupling a reader/writer 12 and plural non-contact cards 11 transmit control information or the like for controlling the reading/writing operation of the non-contact cards 11 by transmitting/receiving optical signals. Besides, the part of the non-contact card 11 for transmitting/receiving the optical signal is arranged at a position where the optical signal can be exchanged with the adjacent non-contact card 11 when plural non-contact cards 11 are piled up. The reader/writer 12 parallel houses the plural non-contact cards 11 and executes reading/writing by transmitting the digital data through electromagnetic coupling while controlling the reading/writing operation of the non-contact cards 11 by the optical signals.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
