PSOLUTION: The lead-based alloy for a lead storage battery has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.02 to 0.05% Ca, 0.4 to 4.0% Sn, 0.002 to 0.014% Ba and 0.005 to 0.04% Al, and further comprising at least one element selected from the elemental group consisting of Cu, K, Li, Na, P, Sb, Se and Te by 0.01 to 0.1% in total, and the balance lead with inevitable impurities. Regarding the lead storage battery in which the lead storage battery for the lead storage battery is used for a positive electrode substrate, the positive electrode substrate is produced by any method selected from a gravity casting method, a continuous casting method, a rolling-expand working method, an extrusion-expand working method and an extrusion-rolling-expand working method.
