PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deposition of lithium bromide crystals and freezing of chilled water in a lithium bromide absorption refrigerating machine even when cold heat load is drastically reduced. SOLUTION: A chilled water temperature sensor 12 is provided for detecting temperature at an exit of chilled water (an arrow (a)). When the detected temperature drops down to a given temperature which is lower than normal temperature, combustion of a burner 2 is stopped. When it further drops down to another given temperature which is lower than the firstly given temperature, the operation of a cooling water pump 4 is stopped. Further, when it drops down to a given temperature which is lower than the secondly given temperature, a refrigerant pump 7 is stopped. Supply of generative power for generating cold heat is permitted to cease by the combustion stoppage of the burner 2, and heat from a refrigerating cycle is prevented from being carried out by the stoppage of the cooling water pump 4, which result in preventing crystals from being deposited and chilled water from being frozen.
