PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a braking mechanism f optimum capacity, secure dependable braking capability and attempt sharp cost-down in a friction transmission device equipped with simple planetary roller mechanism.;SOLUTION: A friction transmission device 20 is provided with a simple planetary roller mechanism 28 with a sun roller 30, a planetary roller 34 and a ring roller 36 as friction rollers and a braking mechanism 22. A test torque is gradually increased and input in the sun roller 30 under the state where a static friction torque Y that can be taken out by the braking mechanism 22 and a carrier 32 and the ring roller 36 are fixed. The test torque value Xd where the first sliding rotation is caused in any of the friction rollers is set in the scope of 0.1XdY0.7Xd. Hence, the balance in performance between the simple planetary roller mechanism 28 and the braking mechanism 22 can be maintained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
