The device has two tool parts (2, 3) that are moved together and are apart from one another. Two recesses are provided in the respective tool parts. A deforming tool moveable with respect to one of the tool parts is arranged in one of recesses. A sheet metal component is formed in one of the recesses by a deforming tool procedure in another recess relative to one of the tool parts. An independent claim is also included for a method for pressing body parts of automobiles.
