Final lacquering of fiber-reinforced plastics part made by an SMC, BMC or RTM (sheet or bulk molding compound or resin transfer molding) process comprises coating part with adhesive; placing molding and a lacquer film in a press molding tool; heating film to or above glass transition temperature of its polymer component; drawing lacquer film onto surface of part; pressing film onto part by excess gas pressure in tool; and thermal cure of adhesive. An independent claim is also included for fiber-reinforced plastics parts made by this process, with lacquer film bonded directly to its surface, such that the depth of roughness of the lacquered surface is under 1 mu m and the fiber structure of the part is no longer visible under the lacquer.
