The device has a dissipated power evaluation unit (36) with a determination module (46) for determining a thermodynamic equilibrium voltage of a battery (10) according to the estimation of a current state of charge and temperature of the battery. The unit (36) has a calculation module (54) for calculating the dissipated power from a difference between the thermodynamic equilibrium voltage and a voltage measured at battery terminals. The thermodynamic equilibrium voltage is measured at the battery terminals in a thermodynamic equilibrium state. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) an estimator of charge state of a battery (B) a process for estimating power dissipated by a battery, adapted to be implemented in a power dissipation estimating device.
