The device (1) has two power supply lines (10a, 10b) coupled with an output terminal of the device over respective storage inductors (2a, 2b). Each power supply line comprises energy storage modules (3), which consist of respective energy storage device cell modules with energy storage cells and a switch i.e. full bridge circuit, multiple coupling elements, where the switch selectively switches or bridges the energy storage cell modules in the power supply lines such that the power supply lines provide a power supply voltage to the output terminal of the device. The energy storage cells are formed as series switched battery cells such as lithium-ion battery cells. An independent claim is also included for a method for providing a power supply voltage into an energy storage device.
