Noble visible light metal oxide-based photocatalysts for photocatalytic decomposition of hydrogen sulfide, and a photocatalytic decomposition method of hydrogen sulfide, which produces hydrogen from hydrogen sulfide by activating the catalysts under visible lights, are provided. A visible light metal oxide-based photocatalyst for photocatalytic decomposition of hydrogen sulfide is represented by CdBiLaO4, SrV2MoO7, PbCrO4, CdBi2Ta2O9, CdAlBiO4, ZnFe2Ta2O9, SrTiBi4O9, or Ca2FeMo6. A method for photocatalytic decomposition of hydrogen sulfide comprises subjecting hydrogen sulfide to photocatalytic decomposition under visible lights using one or more metal oxides selected from CdBiLaO4, SrV2MoO7, PbCrO4, CdBi2Ta2O9, CdAlBiO4, ZnFe2Ta2O9, SrTiBi4O9, and Ca2FeMo6 as photocatalysts. The photocatalytic decomposition of hydrogen sulfide is conducted by applying a process system including a photocatalytic decomposition reaction part comprising a hydrogen sulfide gas(1), a gas flow controller(2), a light filter(3), an agitator(4), a xenon lamp(5), an infrared light filter(6) and a photoreactor(7), a generating gas collection part comprising an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution trap(8) and a liquid nitrogen trap(9), and a generated gas storing and analyzing part comprising a gas chromatography(10), a gas pump(11) and a hydrogen storage container(12).
