The method involves transmitting driving in and driving out data and vehicle identification data that are detected by detecting units (1, 2) during drive in and drive out of a vehicle (3) into and from a specified section of road, respectively, to a CPU (4). The identification data are encoded before the transmission by temporarily available codes that are selectively generated by the detecting units. The transmitted data is subsequently processed by the unit (4), without decoding the encoded data. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for detecting and evaluating vehicle travel data such as travel time of an individual vehicle in a specified section of road.
