MEMANTINE AS A JOINT TREATMENT FOR ATYPICAL ANTIPSYCOTICS IN PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA. The present invention provides a method for treating schizophrenia in a patient in need thereof, the method comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of memantine, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a therapeutically effective amount of at least one atypical antipsychotic. The method of the present invention incorporates both co-administration of memantine with an atypical antipsychotic, and the use of memantine as an adjunctive treatment for treatment with an atypical antipsychotic.
