A stress-reducing retaining wall good for compacting backfill is provided to obtain a wide space enough to compact backfill by providing one vertical wall portion at the center of a retaining wall unit. A stress-reducing retaining wall good for compacting backfill comprises a wall(200), and support members(310). The wall stands on a foundation plate(100), having stressed points(300). The support member supports the rear part of the wall on the foundation plate. The support members are arranged vertically so that horizontal intervals between the support members become wider. The support member supports the stressed points, which are formed vertically, being supported by the foundation plate. The stressed points are protruded on a vertical wall portion(210) formed from the top to the bottom on the back of the wall.
