An electrical machine (6) is provided for applying braking or driving torques on the test specimen during the test procedure. A controlling unit acts on the loading device in such a manner that a set of revolutions or the torque of the loading device runs along a test characteristic curve during the test procedure. The test characteristic describes a temporal distribution of the drive or brake torque of the electrical machine.
