The device (1) has sensors (3a, 3b) provided for detecting acoustic signals propagated from a track system. The device is arranged for detecting a rail-mounted vehicle (5) located on the track system based on the acoustic signals and for triggering an action e.g. switching operation, based on the detection of the vehicle. The sensors are provided in proximity to a level crossing security system, where the device is connected with the level crossing security system for triggering level crossing security elements (7) of the security system. An independent claim is also included for a method for triggering actions of block and/or signal box.
