Clutch thermal loading monitoring method for motor vehicle, involves adapting integrated friction power, and partially opening clutch during reaching of determined frictional energy threshold value i.e. during danger of thermal overloading
The method involves calculating and/or determining a thermal load of a clutch. A controller is provided for controlling the clutch. The speed and/or the torque of an engine and/or the speed of a transmission input shaft are determined and/or calculated, for determining the friction power of the clutch. The friction power is integrated over a determined time interval. The integrated friction power is effectively adapted, and the clutch is partially opened, during reaching of the determined frictional energy threshold value, i.e. during danger of a thermal overloading of the clutch. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring thermal load of a clutch of a motor vehicle.
