The method involves determining a rotational acceleration parameter that characterizes a rotational acceleration behavior of a transmission input shaft (23) of a gear box (1), and laying gears of the gear box. The rotational acceleration parameter for positive and negative rotation speed differences between an engine output shaft (13) and the transmission input shaft is determined. Clutch dragging moments (47, 49) are determined based on the determined rotational acceleration parameter during a neutral phase of the gear box.
