PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a production method by which silica nanoparticles having a narrow particle size distribution and an average particle diameter of nanometer order (e.g., not larger than 300 nm) are inexpensively produced in a high yield; silica nanoparticles produced by the method; and a labeling reagent excellent in reproducibility of a measured result and enabling the high-sensitivity analysis of an infinitesimal amount of target sample to be performed.;SOLUTION: The method for producing silica nanoparticles comprises: adding a silane coupling agent to a reverse micelle dispersion system composed of a surfactant in a hydrophobic solvent, water containing a basic electrolyte and a polyol; and hydrolyzing and polymerizing the silane coupling agent with the water to form silica nano-particles.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
