PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that one resultingly selects a road not suitable for detouring because he (her) has to select an optimal route in consideration while driving a car to avoid an accident, a closed road and a congested section when he (her) uses a conventional map-type road information display board.;SOLUTION: The detour guidance displaying method displays with illumination a traffic-obstructive phenomenon, such as an accident, prohibited passage, traffic jam and the like, on a road displayed on the map-type information display board when said phenomenon occurs, and selects at least one optimal detour at that time from a route conversion table 14a which stores detours determined by considering a road environment for avoiding a place where said phenomenon occurs, and then displays the detour thus selected with blinking on the map-type information display board.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
